3-D Collage Workshop: Thursday February 6th from 10AM-12PM

San Jose Art Museum’s Docent/Outreach: Let's Look at Art is invited to a 3-D Collage Workshops with Zoya Scholis
 
Play and learn by transforming chaos into art.
All necessary materials are provided including glues and pastes, matt& gloss medium for choice finishes, along with some vintage and unusual items from Scholis’ private stash. Get help with problem solving demonstrations showing different techniques and finishes - cutting, tearing and pattern making. Participants will work on one project choosing one of three approaches.

Thursday February 6th from 10AM-12PM or 1:30-3:30PM

-An easy and fun approach to watercolor. Fresh exercises give you confidence to jump in. With an emphasis on whimsical still life, Zoya, will demonstrate her award winning technique for watercolor, as we will review:    • Composition • Masking • Color Layering
Zoya’s teaching style often includes movement, games and music to enhance concentration and inspiration.
 
Fee: $90 with all materials included. 
Or $55.00 if you BYO paper, paint, spray bottles scissors and painter’s tape.

Home Studio Time: June 2014   Download

Do you have half finished paintings you’d like to either wrap-up or start-on anew? Bring your own art in progress and get some things done. Enjoy helpful feed-back, ample supplies and the right ambience facilitate your creative flow. Do you just need a little time or direction to put that finishing touch on a cool project?
Monday-Thursday in June, 2, 3, 4, 5 2014, from 10 AM - 2:00 PM
(30 minute break for brown bag lunch)

Led by Zoya Scholis

This workshop will blend the visceral and visual experience of painting with collage. Exercises and demonstrations are woven-in as we look to enhance skills and maintain spontaneity between media. Zoya Scholis is an award-winning painter, whose unusual teaching style often includes movement, games and music to enhance learning and creative expression.

Saturday, July 12, 2014 from 10AM - 2:30 PM Fee: $90

Create a 22"x30" masterpiece!

Learn/practice the basic techniques of Watercolor:

Color theory • Composition Value • Wet on wet • Dry brush • Thumbnail sketching • Masking • Brushstroke

We'll spend the morning engaged in exercises and demonstrations. Our thumbnails (great for postcards) are critiqued and developed into larger work. Pack a lunch.

Saturday August 23rd, 10AM-2:30PM Fee: $90.

Linoleum Block Printing: Saturday, Dec. 6th 2014 from 10 AM - 2:30 PM   Download

  

Learn to design, carve and print your own holiday cards. Block printing is an ancient technique for printing text, images or patterns. We’ll be using water-soluble paints (instead of toxic inks) on cardstock and fabric. All materials are included: 2 linoleum blocks, 10 cards with envelopes, 1 pad drawing paper & pencil, I set carving tools, 3-5 small tubes of paint.
 
Fee: $75. Or BYO Materials: 2 linoleum blocks, a set of carving tools, paint, paper cards & envelopes, cloth and rollers tubes of water soluble paint and pay $55. Pack a snack.
